Odysseus is a epic hero, a respected warrior and an intelligent leader. He leads his men back to Ithaca after fighting in the Trojan War and while doing so he yearns to meet his beloved wife. On the contrary, Ulysses Everett McGill, the protagonist, is a fast-taking convict, who is imprisoned for being a lawyer without a license. Everett, chained together with two other prisoners, the hot-tempered Pete and the slow-witted Delmar, tries escapes prison in order to return to his hometown to meet his wife. To get Pete and Delmar’s help to escape he made a story about the hidden $1.3 million treasure and promised them a sharer each.
