To “live” means to wake up every morning, to experience life to its fullest, and to stay true to your values and what you stand for. There are many things that can contribute to the quality of life, for example, love, knowledge, hatred, war, family, and anything else that can alter the experience or values of life.
In the film The Giver there seemed to be a low value placed on human life because of sameness. Everyone was doing the same thing everyday. They were never allowed to express themselves or how they feel because all emotions and individuality we taken and stolen from them. They had no choice but to follow the rules,to accept sameness, and to contribute to the community or they had to be killed.

Faber has much in common with the Giver in the sense that they are both wise old men who help with the development of the main character. Although they are alike, Faber was shown as a more sensitive and feeble man than the Giver. The Chief Elder was like Beatty because both of them go against the main character and were portrayed as evil people in the eyes of the main character. Jonas’s mother was similar to Mildred in that they were both compliant and acceptive of the sameness in their community. Also, they were both in charge of alarming the authorities about the main character’s rebellious actions. Jonas’s mother and Mildred had some resemblance, but Mildred was much more rude compared to Jonas’s mother who is polite and neat. The similarities in Fahrenheit 451 and The Giver outweighed the differences.
The characters in Fahrenheit 451 and The Giver are stereotypes that can also be found in other films and novels. Some of the stereotyped characters are Jonas and Montag as the rebels like Beatrice from Divergent or Katniss from The Hunger Games. The Chief Elder and Beatty would also be stereotypes of the antagonist like Snow from the Hunger Games or Jeanine from Divergent. The authors use these stereotypes to make the story relatable to other stories and to make it easier to follow and

In life I have learned to love, appreciate one another, appreciate what is around me, and the knowledge and opportunities that are given to me. I have the freedom and ability to recognize what color is, and I have the ability to learn and be educated about our history, and how we came to be. I don’t have a government hiding what love is, and I have the choice to be or do anything I want to do without worrying about the risk or pain involved. In Fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury and The Giver by Lois Lowry they don’t have opportunities to be different, and do things freely without breaking the rules, they just haven’t been exposed to that kind of environment. The book, Fahrenheit 451, written by Ray Bradbury, and the movie, The Giver, directed by Phillip Noyce, each portray the story of a community that is trying to achieve or maintain a form of utopia. In Fahrenheit 451, firemen are the people who have the job of hunting down and burning any books found in the community. In The Giver, there is no war, no crime, and no hunger; every person has a job and a purpose that is determined by the leaders to be the most suited for them.
