The Red scare and The Crucible (Arthur Miller), both are tied with each other because many articles are compared to one another and are as if history is repeating itself, just in different ways and for different reasons. The Red Scare was the hunt for communists in America and The Crucible was the hunt of witches in Salem. I am sure there are plenty of things that both The Red Scare and the Crucible had in common but I will go through many articles and compare the two to see why they are similar.
A man known as Joe McCarthy played a very larger role when it came to the hunting of the communists. As a senator, he thought he needed to go and find all of the communists who were hiding in America. In Salem, everyone freaked out over witchcraft. It was there in the entire play and it was what the people feared. Whatever there was, the people blamed witchcraft for everything. Both stories also start in the same way. Small groups who did something dumb and then it escalated to something huge that cause people to flip out over nothing. (Prezi, Mady Heil). In The Crucible, Abigail states witchcraft is flowing about and then we start to look at all of the other girl’s point of views. They then all talk about witchcraft and it starts to escalate fast causing many deaths and much more to be put in prison and on trial. In the Red scare, when you were accused, you went up on trial.
