In The Crucible, the destructive actions of a few, became contagious to each other and the resulting trials prove who has strength of character and who falls to manipulation and threats. The fear of punishment from the courts is waged against a higher power, and Arthur Miller skillfully shows the battle within oneself in The Crucible.
