The movie Bernie directed by Richard Linklater, in 2011 versus the movie Psycho, directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960, Lets the audience see a similar message of incertitude of gender insensitivity. The first comparison between the two women and their power of controlling, from the film Bernie, Marjorie "Marge" Nugent was controlled by keeping Bernie all to herself. She didn't want Bernie doing anything other than spending quality time and traveling with Bernie and growing an attachment to him. Marjorie was being used by Bernie for the lust to her money. Bernie loved the idea of materialistic things. He used her knowing that she was vulnerable and lonely after her husband passed. While in the film Psycho Marion crane was also very controlling, she wanted things just she had them in mind. She lusted over an affair with a guy who didn't want her but she wanted him. She also lusted over money that she stole while Marjorie was over wealthy with being the owner of the bank. All Marion wanted also was love she wanted to be more than a home wrecker. The two characters were both strong feminist. They strived for what they wanted but the downfall was the chasing of a man that did not necessarily want them in the way they wanted to be looked upon. Another similarity between the movies is the way the women were Departed from living existence, In psycho, she was truly murdered with stabbing pains while in Bernie she was shot 4 times in the back and stuffed in the freezer. In every main section of the scenes in the film Bernie and Psycho, music would play and catch the audience's attention by showing empathy to the situation, making the audience hear the music and believing the situation was completely different, This made the audience feel an emotion that was completely different than how it should be perceived. For example, in Bernie, most of the soundtrack was Christian religious based music and beats such as “ Amazing Grace, Blessed Assurance and, Love Lifted Me” These songs made the scenarios less crucial. Playing religious songs would never concern to a murderer. The movie Psycho had a soundtrack of terror knowing that a murder was going to approach just didn't know who would commit it and when it would happen since the music soundtrack keeps the audience on the edge of their seats waiting for the suspense to occur.
