Similarities Between Prym And The Giver

In A Perfect World How do we distinguish between those who are followers and those who are leaders? In both The Devil and Miss Prym and The Giver there are good examples of both types of people. These people are undergoing different conflicts within themselves and with other people. The characters struggle through tough times, which ultimately transform them into heroes. They seemed to be living in the “perfect world,” but were it really? In both books, the main characters had many internal struggles they had to overcome. Chantal is faced with a large amount of gold that could change hers and many others lives. The only way to obtain the sought after gold would be to steal it or tell others to have someone killed for it. Jonas lives in a town that is oblivious to what the leaders are doing to them. He desperately wants to flee the town, but that means leaving the ones he loved behind to endure everything. Not only are both characters struggling internally, but also against their communities. Other people are put in place to cause turmoil within both communities, the twist is, and even those people are struggling one way or another. Mentally and physically Jonas transformed into a hero. He was an innocent child obeying the rules of the community, then one day started asking himself questions. Stopped taking the medicine, started digging further into the evilness of the community and finding evidence that what was happening was wrong. Both books tell wonderful stories of people and their hardships in life. They changes they undergo to become better people.
