Task 9 and 10 The greater hero is Theseus instead of Perseus for many reasons. For example, Perseus has no idea that he is a hero, he never really helps anyone so should not be considered a hero. He just goes through some challenges that only benefit him and no one else. He actually gets a lot of help from some gods along the way and does not really do anything that helps. The only reason he actually defeats Acrisius is luck, he accidently kills him. His quest is also very fictional, it does not seem very likely to relate to humans. On the other hand, Theseus becomes a hero through work. He went to complete his quest with very limited help. His journey seems more realistic, something that could relate to humans. This is a quest looks as if a human could go through it which is what the Greeks were all about unlike Perseus’ journey. He saves Athens from King Minos which benefits the people and not just himself.

Both Aeneas and Odysseus had a similar purpose, they both wanted to get home. Yet they are different in that Aeneas did it because a god had told him to. He did it knowing that he would be leaving the good life behind, he sacrificed his personal happiness for his duty to his people. He obeyed without a blink because it was a great honor if a god sent you on a journey. On the other hand Odysseus was not driven by any sense of duty. He himself chose to go back home. On his way home, he even left a lot of his crew behind. It also took him about ten years to get home. His journey was simply based on self-interest. However, they are also similar in that both of their sons loved them dearly which demonstrates a great respect that offsprings had towards their
