Edgar Allan Poe, author of "The Masque of the Red Death" and George Clayton Johnson creator of the "Nothing in the Dark" were two different people who created two similar stories that take place in two very different time periods. In "The Masque of the Red Death" Prince Prospero is young, wealthy, robust, cruel, and lives an extravagant life, Wanda on the other hand is the complete opposite, she is elderly, poor, frail, compassionate, and lives a simple life, although they are completely different they have one thing in common, they both fear death. Prince Prospero is cruel because after he invites a thousand of his friends, he closes the gates of his castle and he welds them shut so no one can come in and no one can go out. While the people outside are dying of the Red Death, Prince Prospero and his friends are living an extravagant life with anything they need. Wanda is kind and compassionate, even though she so afraid of death to even step out of her home, she steps outside to help an injured policeman who is dying outside her simple abandoned apartment
