Similarities Between Mad Max And Les Guerillere

Improved Essays
Although of different mediums, there are many connections that can be made between Mad Max: Fury Road, and Les Guerilleres by Monique Wittig. They portray different views of feminism, but are both considered to be very feminist stories.
Les Guerillere’s portrayal of feminism shows a view of female supremacy, and shows that women are not only equal to men, but in many ways better. Mad Max shows men, and women are in a way equal. They cast women in roles that men would typically be cast in. Even though Mad Max goes along the path of generally not addressing the difference between men, and women, but there are many underlying themes which show women being above men. Superhero Comic Books Berlatsky’s article, “The Female Thor and the Female Comic-Book Reader” (2014), argues that girls are interested in reading superhero comics as much as boys; there has been a lot of speculation whether comic books were created to entertain only the masculine audience. In order to stop the sexism that has been going around in the superhero comic book industry, Berlatsky uses the logos Aristotelian appeal to inform the comic book audience that girls have been a fan of comics since decades ago. He also managed in using the hyperbole and aphorism rhetorical strategies to show that boys see girls differently and don’t belong in this industry. As a matter of fact, Berlatsky uses aphorism in one of the first paragraphs.…

Throughout history, the male has been the most dominant figure living on planet Earth. Difficult tasks and jobs have been given to men, and women were given simpler, less demanding jobs. Women often were thought of as weak and fragile so they could not do the tasks of men; who were pictured as muscular and intelligent. Women were not given equal rights to men but in World War I and World War II, the government and society ran into a problem, and women were able to prove themselves as strong, unique, and skilled. As soldiers went to fight for their nations in World War I and II, women were left with the responsibility of replacing men in factories and on farms, which resulted in them becoming huge contributors and obtaining more independence.…

Casablanca is considered to be one of the greatest films of all time, and it’s not hard to see why. Coming at a time when the world needed it most, the film brings comedy and romance to a dark situation. It is often considered a noir film because if this darkness, but it’s lightheartedness, along with other elements, keeps it from falling into the gloomy genre. Released only a year apart, Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon share multiple commonalities, which fuels the debate over whether or not Casablanca is a noir film. The most obvious similarity between the two is the three actors who star in both films, Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, and Sydney Greenstreet.…

In Alfred Hitchcock’s film “The Birds,” the idea of feminism can be said to have a strong impact and importance throughout the film. This idea is brought out from Hitchcock’s depiction of the women in the film. It can be said that Hitchcock is against feminism from his metaphorical use of the bird attacks to punish the women for stepping into male realms. In the analysis of feminism among the female characters, I will use mainly the characters Melanie Daniels and Lydia Brennan since they are the main ones in showing a contrast relating to feminism. To make clear, feminism can be simply thought of as the idea of women being equal to men on social, political, and economic grounds.…

Gender is a societal subject that has evolved and changed so many times throughout history. Over all, though, it is evident that men have always had a precedence over women from the very beginning. It took years for women to be able to vote, get jobs that were considered "a man's job", and even today there are still issues with men and women receiving equal pay. In Charles Portis's novel True Grit, a fourteen-year-old girl named Mattie steps up to the plate to find vengeance for her murdered father. The novel takes place in the late 1800's, so it is natural to assume that women would be discriminated against.…

Gender inequality is an issue that has been happening for thousands of years, affecting cultures from all around the world. Women have endured since ancient times the title as the inferior being, the “other” gender besides the man, the weaker and less valuable specimen. This gender inequality created a huge difference between men and women, placing women’s rights under men’s jurisdiction, which dictated what women were and were not allowed to do. This issue was analyzed by the French and feminist supporter and writer Simone de Beauvoir in her text, “Woman as Other.” In her essay de Beauvoir explains the entire concept of women being considered the “other” gender apart from the men.…

When I first saw the title of this movie, I was caught by it. “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is a name which can make people feel interested about the film itself, and you can imagine a cool girl through this title. Although I had thought that the heroine of this film would be an uncommon girl, Lisbeth provided me much surprise when I saw what she done in the film.
