Life In A Mid Summer Night's Dream

How can literature and life be a parallel some may ask, it can be a parallel in ways that people may not think about on a regular basis. Parallels between the genres that we have covered in class and real life are very prominent. The poetry unit in class shows how life is like poetry in the way that everyone sees and feels things in a different manner. Reading A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream, demonstrates how life is like a play, even if it is misled one, also it shows how life is like a triangle of events in which you have no control over. Also, a parallel that can be made is how life is a struggle and how we are not always proud of the actions that we take, but we have to push through to try to make up for them; this can be portrayed by connecting …show more content…
In The Kite Runner the parallels that are made are extremely comparable to real life. In the book, Amir does a variety of things that later in life he isn’t proud of, and he later feels the guilt and the pain that was caused by his actions. For example, later in his adult life Amir begins to feel terrible for not helping Hassan when Assef and his two “sidekicks” brutally assaulted Hassan. In the moment he only cared about his life and about what would happen to him, but as he grew older and learned new lessons and started to think about what he had done he began to realize that he was a terrible person for the actions that he chose to make. When he came to this realization he felt guilt and pain that he wanted to make up for, even though he knew that he could never make up for what he had done (or what he had let happen). This is a parallel to the real world because in life every single person makes mistakes and does things that affect those around us, even the ones that we love and that love us. This part of the book portrays how in real life we do things and say things to others that at the time we may not think is a big deal, but as we grow older and wiser we look back on those moments and realize that what we had done was wrong and as much as we want to/try to we can 't go back and fix those mistakes or make up for them. In our world …show more content…
Life is a lot life poetry, there are good times and bad times as well as happy and sad times. When writing poetry there is no defined structure that you have to follow, poetry can be about anyone and anything as long as it comes from the heart. Poetry can appeal to a variety of different audiences depending on the topic and the message it 's trying to portray to the reader. Poetry is a lot like life in the way that there’s poetry expressing a montage of different feelings, from being sad and lonely to being happy and feeling powerful. For example, Maya Angelou is a very respected poet who has created brilliant poems, one of my personal favorites from the semester is the poem, Alone. This poem sends a message to all readers that it 's impossible to make it through life alone and without the support of others, even the richest of people or the most confident people in the world need others by their side to be successful in life. Another poem, Acquainted with the Night, is about the loss of hope and how a happy moment can instantly turn into a sad one, he also portrays the message of being lonely, but in the opposite way of Maya Angelou does, he feels that he is all alone, but covers it up by listening and observing others to feel like he is part of the crowd but in reality, he isn’t. This makes the connection to life because in life we every person at some point will feel every type of emotion possible,

Dylan Thomas once said, “Poetry is what in a poem makes you laugh, cry … makes you know that you are alone in this unknown world, that your bliss and suffering is forever shared and forever all your own.” (Huffington Post) Poetry is a vital language that is everywhere around us, but unfortunately ‘actual’ poetry is becoming a lot less popular. Nevertheless, poetry should not be a dead art -- rather it should be embraced. Poetry is a significant art form that positively affects people’s lives by providing them with a vital aid to living. Poems are able to help people with many emotional problems they may be experiencing. People all around the world look towards poems for support and help, and often times, it works.…

According to the “Why people need poetry” film, poetry isn’t one thing that serves one purpose. I agree Poetry doesn’t serve one thing but it serves multiple things such as feelings, love, beauty or freedom etc. Poetry is something which is different to everyone. It has the same words but it fits to every person differently. Poetry is something which is all regarding to “passion”.…

At the start of the semester, I was so drawn to this idea that I had to write about feelings that everyone understood. For some reason, I was under the impression that relatable poetry was automatically “good” poetry. Yet, when I wrote poetry that everyone immediately understood, I was not happy with it. My poems that were relatable were dull or cliché. That is why I loved writing “To My Grandmother”.…

This allows readers to fully understand her fiery personality, and relate to what drove her to create and to pursue her dream of becoming famous through her poetry. One of the points that Mr. Wilbur made was that Miss Dickinson, “was deprived of literary recognition.” To further this statement he also explained, “The truth is, I think, that Emily Dickinson knew she was good, and began her career with a normal appetite for recognition.” We see this ambition in Dickinson’s poem, “Success is counted sweetest.” The beginning lines are as follows: “success is counted sweetest- By those who ne’er succeed.” This poem leaves its reader with the sting of bitter resentment toward the paradox of one’s own mind set. She describes the disappointing feeling of losing the drive to reach a goal that you have already achieved. Perhaps she is trying to reason with herself that if she had become a successful author, then she would not appreciate being successful. Mr. Wilbur also believed that, “she seems to have found her life, in great part, a history of loneliness, separation, and bereavement.” This means that while she was ambitious and driven, her illness prevented her from achieving many of her goals, and her poetry often covertly conveys this…

Byron writes poetry not with the use of individual words but with how the words form a relationship together and create poetry. Byron was a leading figure in the romantic era of poetry. "Whate'er the critic says or poet sings,/'Tis no slight task to write on common things." I do agree with this observation. It is a task of great difficulty writing poetry, especially poetry that people read and critics will appreciate.…

The poem “Poetry” by Marianne Moore explains what makes poetry, poetry. She uses different poem techniques to display her thoughts of what it is like to read poems. The author regards poetry from the view of someone who does not understand poetry in all its “rawness” (Moore line 37). She states what most people are thinking when they read poetry. Moore uses imagery, diction, and metaphor to emphasize that poetry is necessary for people to have an outlet.…

The betrayal probably had arguably the most prominent impact on Amir, the main character. “He hurt him in a very bad way, and I...I couldn 't save your father the way he had saved me,” (319). Obviously, after all that time, Amir was living in guilt and had regretted what he’d done to Hassan back when they were kids. He also felt sorry for Hassan that he had to go through that on his own, and that no one was there to help him out. Guilt and regret are two dangerously serious traits to have, and it was unhealthy for Amir to be living with that pain all his life.…

My poetry anthology is a collection of poems that I thoroughly enjoy and relate too. There is no set theme in my poetry anthology. Despite having no set theme, love is a frequent theme in my poetry anthology. Love is a frequent theme because I am a clichéd hopeless romantic who simply loves anything to do with love. Some of the greatest poems come from those who are in love, take W.B Yeats for example who writes of his unrequited love for Maud Gonne.…

These lines suggest that without the sensation of love, nothing in life significant; therefore, since the feeling of love has died, so should everything else in the world. The article "Don 't be Averse to Setting Aside Time for some Verse," states that these lines in the poem are the most insightful, because they display the emotional state and “thudding rage” of the speaker in a way no other line does…
