Comparison Essay It seems like “Thank You Ma’am” and “Because of Mr. Terupt” Are very different. For instance, one is about a lady who was walking then a pickpocket tried to steal her purse but fails and then the lady keeps him at home and sets him straight, while the other is about a new teacher and their class that takes them down a scary, funny road as students cause trouble and the teacher doesn’t necessarily care. But if you look closer into the two stories, you will see that they both have a common theme, for instance, in both stories the author tries to show us the forgiveness and how it helps with most situations. As stated in the introduction, forgiveness is a big role in these two stories.…

Similarities and differences of Red Badge of Courage and Soldiers Heart The books Soldiers Heart and Red Badge of Courage are very similar to the concept of war and the torment it takes on the psyche of the mind but the books do share their differences. Also, both the novel and the film have the same take on the civil war, which makes them seem very alike when you look at the root of the stories. Finally, the authors’’ opinions on the civil war are almost identical, the war is savage, brutal, and takes a toll on anyone who participated in it.…

The similarities aren’t clear to see in the short stories, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? and A Good Man is Hard to Find”, but if you look closely you can see multiple; one being that the main characters are both female, selfish, self-absorbed and conceited. This selfishness is shown by the grandmother; in A Good Man is Hard to Find, when she takes her cat on vacation, callously saying “because he would miss her too much and she was afraid he might brush against one of the gas burners and accidentally asphyxiate himself” (O’Connor 1097) cats are independent animals and its doubtful the cat would even know she was gone, but the reality is is that would miss the cat. Comparative to the grandmother, Connie in “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” demonstrates her selfishness by snubbing her families’ barbeque “rolling her eyes to let her mother know just what she thought of it” (Oates 2129).…

However, in almost every book, no matter what the culture or time period are, the same basic themes of character traits, power and death recur.…
