Although existing and rising to fame 1821 years apart, the murderers of Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln shared some unique similarities. One of them grew up in Ancient Rome, while the other grew up in a time of racial segregation and new beginnings. Even though they were born into two different times and lived under different circumstances, they were similar yet very different because they both felt the leaders had too much power and conspired to kill the powerful leaders. Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger was born June 85 B.C. in Philippi, Macedonia (now Greece) to Marcus Junius Brutus the Elder and Servilla Caepionis. However, it was rumored that Julius Caesar was his father.…

Although Gaius Julius Caesar was a brilliant man who did many things to benefit the people of Rome, the conspirators were completely justified in the decision to assassinate him. Towards the end of his life and political career, Caesar became a tyrannical and dictatorial man who violated widely accepted values of being a just ruler. He seemed to desire copious amounts of power which could not be granted by following the rules. An example of this would be the fact that he appointed himself dictator for life. He even violated Plato’s values of being a fair ruler (wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice), which were widely accepted views even in the Late Republic.…

Ditmar Hoxha JM1614857Julius Caesar comparison essayBoth incredibly well established leaders to their respective peoples; Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln set a mark on history in their own separate ways that can never be replicated. The reason I have chosen to compare Julius Caesar to Abraham Lincoln is because of their significance in 100-44 B.C. and the 19th century, respectively. They left their foot on history and will both be forever remembered as great leaders in many respects, which is a remarkable feat that not many have or will achieve. These characters could not be so different, yet similar that I had to compare the two. A small town boy born in Kentucky and raised in Indiana being compared to a boy born into a senatorial status,…

As a staunch supporter of the old Republican government it is logical to assume that Tacitus was not fond of the ushers of the imperial era would be an understatement, however it Tiberius was particularly distasteful to his pallet. Most countries have an army to protect their countries values and citizens, but not all countries run their military the same way. Between ancient Greece and Rome, there were many similarities and differences between the two armies. Ancient Greece and Rome both had wars that contained similar and different tactics including: the weapons/objects brought to the fight, along with the formation of the soldiers fighting in battle, and how the outcome of the wars affected their civilization after the war had come to a conclusion. Every society brings their own individual items to the table when preparing for battle, just like ancient Greece and Rome brought similar things to their own independent battles. When Greek troops were sent to battle, they brought shields and spears,…

My first interaction with the play Julius Caesar was part of my curriculum and entirely changed my stand on Shakespearean literature, while The Hunger Games is one of my favourite books. This is, what persuaded me, to find a common ground between the two books. The research question I have chosen has implications which gives us an interesting outlook on how literature and language to portray human psychology. The question is worth considering for it is living proof that human psychology has remained unchanged as centuries have passed by. Even the first thought of comparing these 2 books may seem absurd, but the past can help us understand the present and the present makes the past relatable.…

Ghosts often represent an evil spirit in transition. The spirit cannot die either because it is in purgatory or because it has unfinished business on Earth. The only assumption one can make when a vengeful ghost appears is that no good thing could come from this visit. Shakespeare uses ghosts in many of his plays to help the plot move along or to foreshadow an outcome. Julius Caesar and Hamlet are just two examples.…

Julius Caesar was the first dictator for life and had shaped Rome for ever. Julius Caesar was born on either 12th or 13th of July in 100 BC in Rome to a well known but awfully poor family. Caesar’s life started at 16 when his father, Gaius, died, as a result Julius grew closer to his mother Aurelia. Julius at a young age had an ambition for politics and the idea of becoming apart of the Roman political system grew because of unstable order among the republicans. Caesar took a great step forward towards politics when he married Cornelia a daughter of Sulla a powerful man and dictator in Rome, Sulla had no part in the marriage and forced Caesar to leave or risk losing his property, Julius didn’t back down.…
