Realizing what she had done, she not only puts the blame on Gatsby, but also cowardly retreats away from East Egg. As Teller and Teller mention, “Guilt and shame are. .…

One of the most specific similarities between To Kill a Mockingbird and the author are the names of her characters. Many of the names found in the book stem from the maiden name of her mother, Frances Cunningham Finch Lee (Flanchman). The main character’s family name of Finch is easy to spot, but several other characters claim their title from this, including Scout’s rotten cousin Francis and the Cunningham family. Lee followed a similar rule with Scout and Jem’s father, Atticus. Not only is his name very similar to her own father’s first name of Amasa, but his character corresponds with him as well.…

People are affected by where they live. If someone grows up in a poor environment they will have a harder time becoming rich than a person who grows up in a rich environment. In the texts To Kill a Mockingbird, A Raisin in the Sun, and the documentary American Denial the people are affected by where they live, because they are limited by their surrounding area and might be of a lower class because of their setting. If people would look and see the effects of poverty maybe there would be more action; but instead, people turn a blind eye and let it happen.…

Analysis of Literary Context of James Throughout the book, James showed great understanding of Jesus’ teachings and clearly criticized believers for behavior unfitting for those claiming to be followers of Christ (Elwell & Yarbrough, 2003). Having heard Jesus preach on multiple occasions, it influenced his own theological and ethical instructions to the Jewish community to whom he was writing (Porter, 2005).
