Winston Churchill was the Prime Minister of Great Britain during World War Two. Adolf Hitler was the dictator of Germany during World War Two. They both came from a very different background and rose to power in different ways. Also, both were prominent and strong leaders for their respective alliances. So the question might arise: who was the greater leader? Despite their similarities and differences, Winston Churchill was the better leader.

Although he was still an Austrian citizen, he was accepted in August 1914. He enlisted in a Bavarian Regiment in which 2500 to 3000 soldiers were killed or wounded after its first clash with the Allies. Although his regiment lost so many, Hitler left without any major injuries. Throughout World War One, Hitler was very lucky. He only sustained minor injuries for most of the war. He rose to the rank of Corporal and became a dispatch runner, carry messages from one part of the battlefield to the other. He kept his artistic habits during the war, painting whenever there was a lull in fighting. He was also a great contrast to his fellow soldiers. He was had a sloppy manner, didn’t complain about bad food , and liked to talk about art instead of women, among other topics. Despite these differences, his peers usually found him likable. On October 7, 1916, Hitler was injured by a mortar shell fragment during the Battle of the Somme, returning to Germany to recover. He was sent back in March of 1917.
