I find it particularly intriguing that the books of Genesis differ so much. In the first book of Genesis, the Lord created man and woman as he did the fish, bird, and all other creatures. This does not mean that he only created one man and one woman, but he created multiple men and women like he created multiples of each species of animal. The second book of Genesis is not the same as the first book. The difference is that in the second book of Genesis, it says that God only created one man and from this man, he formed one woman. There were only two people made, not many like it is seen in the first book of Genesis. Palmer can bring a great light to what is true and what is not about these myths of creation. Palmer says in his work that “When we make the subject the center of our attention, we give it the respect and authority that we normally give only to human beings” (Palmer, 1999, p. 3). I believe that this statement is true if we make the myths of creation the subject. If the stories are respected enough, there is often a fear that comes with the respect that is given. In both the books of Genesis and the Acoma creation story, the creators and deities in these religions are disobeyed and angered. The being who caused their anger was punished, which can cause fear and respect in those who follow the teachings of these stories. Both stories are respected to the point where people base their actions around what is told in origin myths. By people considering these stories before they take action, it gives a certain levels of respect to not only the creator in these stories, but also the story
