The plot in a story can be so dull to the readers that they can not finish the first chapter or even intrigue these readers enough to want to interpret the book in their own way and the two books Frankenstein and This Dark Endeavor can be put on one side or the other. In Frankenstein an interpreted theme is dangerous knowledge which can be thought of as either Victor learning the secret to life or how the monster learned extremely fast such as this quote,”Thanks to the lessons of Felix and the sanguinary laws of man, I had learned to work mischief”(Shelley 103). In comparison to Oppel’s This Dark Endeavor whose main point was that the purist intentions can stir up the darkest obsessions which is supported by this statement Victor made in the Icy Crypt, “...even if it meant unlocking every secret law of this earth, to bring him back”(Oppel 298). This quote made by Victor is an example of how he would do anything whether good or bad to bring his brother back. These themes are very similar in how both Victors have to learn and study to help either others or themselves, but differ in how one creates evil while the other becomes the evil. To wrap up theme they each have two different problems, but end up with close to the same theme and that is how knowledge isn't always
