The two were extremely determined. Granted it was said it could not be done, Victor was certain he could build a lifeform, and nonetheless, he did. He worked very hard to create his monster, and in spite of the fact that his creation did not turn out as planned, he succeeded. Gregor was also exceptionally determined. He spent great amounts of time and put in much effort to do simple things such as getting out of bed after his transformation into a bug. Despite the fact that his duties as an insect may appear simple, they required a lot of perseverance to complete. Another similarity between the two is their feelings towards their families. Both are very caring towards them. Gregor does whatever he possibly can to please his family. He hides so they aren’t disgusted by his new appearance, he is very concerned for their futures, and he even dies to improve their lives. Even though Victor doesn’t do as much for his family, he grew up very close to them and is still deeply affected when some of them are murdered by his own creation. He is constantly burdened by the event, proving that he truly loved his family. Throughout the novels, both Victor Frankenstein and Gregor Samsa showed very similar and some different traits. The two were family oriented, determined, yet separated by their personal growth. Overall, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka have very important characters
