What makes a great historical leader? A great leader is one who motivates the group of people he or she is responsible for and serves a similar purpose as a light; guiding and supporting whomever is in need. A great leader is selfless and is willing to sacrifice themselves in order to help others. Eleanor Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln are both extraordinary leaders in American history. Both figures served the United States during its worst times but never faltered to persevere and help those in need. However, Eleanor Roosevelt was a compassionate leader who worked to improve human rights while Abraham Lincoln was a strong leader who led the country during the bloody America civil war. Without Eleanor Roosevelt’s contribution and help, many people in poverty would have never understood the truth of hope and America could have collapsed at the hands of the devastating Great Depression.
