Dream And Film Analysis

What we experience at the in a cinema while watching a is of three-dimensional space; however, we know for a fact that it is two dimensional. It is said shadows are made of light (sun), they are ethereal because they can come and go they become sheer pigments of our dream and imagination. While objects that we see are perfect exact 100 percent replica of a real person; hence why McGinn said that images of dematerialized body in other words has no physicality. In other words, McGinn is saying you see his body, but you are not really seeing his body; they are real, but not real at the same time. Unlike dream, films can make a body “perfect” due to the fact that it cannot decompose, damage, etc. because it is in the screen images which makes it …show more content…
All films images are all “intentional;” the key element is called “intentionality” (it does not intentional in that sense like photography are, but it means “about something”). The mental image you have of an object or a subject in a reality will be different to dreaming about it, because in the dream it will be “about something.” All the objects in the films are intentional in the sense that it is meaningful because it is about something or it is always about something. Take for example the scene in the movie: Singin’ in the Rain (1952) Kelly was twirling the umbrella or when he climbed on the lamp post in while it was raining. The scene can be interpreted as an epiphany of being happy, where the umbrella represents freewill and the climbing on the lamp post on the street, could be seen as the mental lightbulb that just went off in his head that he is in love and have no care about the things outside his world at that …show more content…
Just like you can have some emotional connection to a that is so spellbinding and compelling, you can also feel the same way in a dream; such as, being scared, happy, laughter, crying, etc. so is the Kelly’s character state of mind in the singin’ in the rain (1952). Another one is the spatio-temporal discontinuity, both dream and film are similar in the sense that one can move from a scene or surrounding to another within minutes or second and it will still make sense. Whereas, it the real world things do not happen like that, not only do we not have magic to make that happen, but it will not make any sense to us whatsoever, so, dream are in space and in time because it is “discontinuously.” You can assume the next event of what to happen in a movie and dream because it is like foreseeing their future or the events; you know their mind without them saying it. An example of this is when Hagen’s character thought that she would get away with her unreasonable demands to have Reynolds’ character sings in the background while pretending to be her. It is easy to guess or anticipate what is about to happen when she took on the stage microphone, and when the three men sarcastically and subtly agreed to let her onto to the stage by herself. Whereas, in the real life it is not the

"Wanted" is basically from a comic book that has limited series written by Mark Miller and J.G Jones, it is about an amoral protagonist (Wesley Gibson) who is discovered as the heir of super assassin. Russian director, Timur Bekmambetov, he is the cream of the crop, he turns this comic into a movie that make the viewers not sit still and make their adrenaline and cortisone levels spike with the actions. Bekmambetov used the similar style of shots and angles with his previous movie, Night watch. It's more to wide angle (long shot), so we can see the terrifying background like one of the scenes in the torture room, where Wes has been beaten up by the butcher. Not even that, there are many special effects that Bekmambetov applies in this movie, like slow-motion with sound effects that certainly provides that "ouch" reaction from audiences.…

This documentary "Dreamworlds- Desire, Sex, and Power in music Videos" tries to explain how the popular culture influences contemporary music video and how this is affecting today’s culture. “Dreamworlds” insists that these narratives and cultural attitudes have shaped these music videos into sexualizing women, and filtering the identities of both men and women into “myths” about sexuality and gender. The subject group in these music videos tended to be mostly about women and how they are misrepresented and used in popular culture. Overall I agree with the film message that these music videos are misleading and only demonstrated with one point of view in which the audience can see through. For instance, the women are sexualized and presented as mere objects of for the video and men as well.…

The objectification of women through popular culture texts has led to sexism throughout the ages. In the video, Dreamworlds III, the sexuality of women is expressed in texts, such as music videos, which leads to an outcry of men believing women are a “hot commodity.” In the following essay, I will talk about Dreamworlds III by discussing the effect that this video has had on me as a woman in this generation and the way that my views have changed as a frequent music video watcher. In addition to this, I will apply an outside source to enhance the ways that women sexuality has affected generations today.…

Riley was having a dream based on what she was actually afraid of. He gives us a glimpse into Eastwood, “a community that was battered but far from beaten.” Caught in the bonds of racism and poverty, the Fontenelles appeared Parks’ article A Harlem Family, in Life Magazine. Freud believed in the expression of language to help reveal the nature of his patient's dreams. He used the term 'dream-work' to describe the ways in which dreams materialize from the unconscious and argued that dreams reflect desires which are supressed by the superego in order for the ego to develop as a social individual. There are instances however, when desires often escape from the unconscious and are revealed through slips of the tongue or within dreams themselves. The content of a dream is produced by 'dream-thoughts' and presented in the form of illustrated signs which are then deciphered back into dream-thought to obtain the correct meaning. The relationship between the way dream-thoughts are displaced and condensed can be applied…
