The production of Death of a Salesman and the movie ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?’ have very similar themes portrayed in their diverse plots. The themes both portray the struggle of relationships between the patriarchs and their family members through mental disabilities and lack of morality. The themes also express the struggles through life in general, and in these texts stylistic features emphasize the idea of mundane lives. In both texts, these struggles can be displayed through several aspects, for both Gilbert Grape and Willy Loman experience the psychosocial effects of caring for/being a mentally ill person.
