Both Gilbert and Willy are involved in love affairs with women, Gilbert has an affair with a married woman, Mrs Betty Carver, and Willy commits adultery. Firstly, Betty compelled this affair onto Gilbert as her husband does not give her the attention she needs, which left him confused as to why she would chose him.
