The Storm by Kate Chopin takes place in the late 1800s in the South where two characters reunite after some time apart. The storm in the story is unexpected however, leads to an adulterous affair between Calixta and Alcee. Both characters have a past however, they are now married and have families of their own. The storm rushes in and traps Bobinot and four-year-old Bibi in a local store. Meanwhile, as Calixta is rushing closing all windows, doors and collecting the garments hanged outside her home, Alcee approaches her home seeking for shelter for the storm. The storm is used as a way to bring these two characters together. After spending some time together, Calixta and Alcee begin to feel comfortable in each other’s presence and eventually
