Alexander the Great: a Macedonian king. Augustus Caesar: a Roman emperor. Both men were great leaders of the past. They had many accomplishments, experienced an impactful early life, and faced difficult obstacles. They also had similarities as well as differences. However, Alexander the Great was more important than Augustus Caesar because of his more impactful achievements, his creativity, his fame and success, and his wonderful traits.

When Caesar, or Gaius Octavius as he was first known, was young, he got sick very often; nevertheless, he was a smart child, and he was even taught by many famous teachers (Walworth 23). He showed his skill when he gave a funeral oration at only twelve. Additionally, he was allowed to join the Roman Senate at an exceptionally young age (Forsyth 20). Since Octavius was the great-nephew of Julius Caesar, it was only natural that his great-uncle took an interest in him. Octavius, sixteen at the time, proved himself when he joined Julius Caesar on a campaign (Forsyth 15). He made such an impression on his great-uncle that he was asked to join another campaign. However, he soon heard news of Julius Caesar's assassination, and he was forced to take action (Forsyth 16). He was the rightful heir to the throne, as stated in his great-uncle's will, and he changed his name from Gaius Octavius to Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus to show that (Forsyth 16).
