There are differences in their government, military, and infrastructure. True they both have a senate, but Rome has an Emperor, who rules for life with absolute power, as opposed to the US, which has an elected president who is only a representative, not a ruler. The difference in the militaries is that Rome’s military was always on the move, conquering adjacent countries for resources and land, while the US military only protects our country from enemy countries, because we make alliances with other countries. Another main difference is that here in the US we have advanced, protected infrastructure, such as our source of water, which is underground pipes that carry water from place to place, the Romans had above-ground aqueducts that were supported by arches, which anybody could come destroy and ruin the whole …show more content…
Some recommendations for the US that could prevent it from falling the same way that Rome did is, first of all, keep our borders small, and to be friendly to our neighbors, Rome fell because they relied to much on conquering other countries, soon there was to much land in Rome, that they were spending way more money on supplying troops protecting the border than they were making, so they went into debt. The US could also decrease the risk of falling by making more money out of paper, because we don’t want to spend more than a cent making a cent right? One of the resources that Rome often ran out of was ores that they used to make money, and when they ran out of that, they have to go invade another country, but when you run out of counties to invade, that is when paper money comes in handy, so to save resources, we should make pennies, dimes, etc. out of paper. “Absolute power corrupts absolutely”. When an emperor of Rome claimed the throne, it could only be taken away if they died, or were voted out (which rarely happened). But most of the time, the emperor ruled for life. This drove some of them to making choices that would send Rome downhill for centuries. But in the US, the president represents us for four years until they are replaced, or re-elected, this prevented them from believing that they were the face of the US, or the most important person there, they are just representatives,
