If the reader goes in knowing little to almost no information about this topic, they will be very adequately informed through most sections of the book. They will be able to grasp an understanding of what happened and how racial conflict and westward movements of whites played a major role in this time period. However, because it is simply told through the eyes of the Prophet and Indians, we do not see the side of the White men. It leaves us with only one interpretation of what happened, one understanding of only one side, and only one way to read it. However, in return, it did do a good job of keeping to the story. During The Last of the Mohicans, it was able to give a more visual display of the events that occurred and took place. It was generally very accurate and did display a well-rounded film of this time. It correctly depicted the blockade of Fort William Henry and the efforts to gain control of it. Some specific examples that Last of the Mohicans accurately displayed was the terms surrender of the fort while also showing that the British were aloud to leave in peace. However, this film focuses a lot on the very fictional relationship between Hawkeye and Cora.
