The primates that possess characterics like bipedalism, smaller canine size and bigger brain size are hominins. Humans are the modern Hominins and the fossils reveal that several species of hominins are extinct. Homo is a type of Hominin that lived around 1.9 m.y.a and it is the immediate predecessor of Homo sapiens. Paleontologists and archeologists have classify each time they discover new fossils that have primates and or derived characteristics. The two groups of anthropologists are lumpers and splitters and they organize species depending other their similarities and differences. Splitters focus on difference between the Hominin species, but the Lumpers focus on the similar hominids are primates that share characteristics such as "bipedalism, reduced canine size, and increasing brain size.rities between the hominin species. Lumpers classification is based on anagenesis which refers to the formation of species without branching into evolutionary line. Lumper’s goal is to have as few groups of species as possible as they place many fossils in the same category. The lumpers use Multi Regional Continuity to draw their tree which claims that when Homo erectus moved of Africa to other continents, those population evolved into modern human. According to lumpers, gene flow among various species maintained their similarities. On the other hand, splitters suggest that species that dispersed around the globe, they population divergence happened and thus variation increased among…
