This is a crucial part of human nature in order to continue to make advancements. This also creates confusion between the different versions of an idea. In some cases, people may become very dedicated to their idea and will be willing to do anything to defend it. Others believe that respecting people’s differences is what is right. That is where the problem comes in, there is no exact right or wrong. This explains ethical pluralism and the formation of different ideas that may or may not be compatible with one’s personal beliefs.
When comparing values, there is no common ground on which values can be compared therefore it is unrealistic to compare them. Some people believe that if you are not with them, then you are against them. This means that if a person does not believe in the same ideals as another then they must disagree with it. This belief does not take into consideration that there may be specific aspects of an idea that they agree with or support but others that they do not. There is no order of importance when referring to people’s ideas or beliefs as in which is better than the others. Although this may be true, it seems that the people with the power, or the power majority, tend to determine for everyone else what is important in their everyday lives. These choices include what is important for children to learn in school or what laws should be passed within that community.
