Similarities And Differences Between Latin America And North America

Latin America and North America are located right next to each other, Latin America being just south of North America. Latin America is made up of six sub regions: Mexico, Central America, The Caribbean Basin, Northern Andes, Brazil, and Southern South America. Whereas North America is made up of two Countries: Canada and the United States. Due to how close they are to each other there are some similarities, but don’t be fooled these two regions are very different.
Latin America has a very wide range of population. The majority of their population are in big cities. Countries like Mexico and Brazil are population giants compared to countries in the Caribbean basin, with fewer than 100,000 people. Central America is on pace to grow by nearly 30%. This growth will put even more stress on the sub region that is already struggling. Same story for the Caribbean Basin, which has doubled in size since 1965.

Latin America is a lot more cultural diverse. Literature, art, music, and dance are all big factors in their culture. Latin America is full of different ethnic groups, Mestizo being the primary. Some countries also have a large majority of black, white, Native American, and European descent. Spanish and Portuguese are the main languages spoken, French is spoken widely in French Guiana and other smaller countries. As far as religion, Latin America and North America both share Christianity at the top of the list. However, in Latin America, Roman Catholic is the most popular form of Christianity. Whereas Protestant is the main form of Christianity in North America, with Roman Catholic coming in at a close second. North America is dominantly white with a small majority of African American, Asian, Native American, and other European origins. North America mainly speaks English, however in some parts of Canada the dominant speaking language is French and Spanish is spoken widely throughout the
