Similarities And Differences Between Fences And Oedipus The King

While the story” Fences” by August Wilson and” Oedipus the king “ by Sophocles I notice that there a lot of different and similarity in the story. There were several similarities, differences I saw like the tension between the characters, how the characters relate to one and other. To let you see how both story compare to each other. Fences are about a man name troy who is garbage collector was living in a time where there was so much discrimination and how he wanted something to be done about. He had a best friend name Bono who was a garbage collector and they were close. They became friends in prison and now worked together as garage truck driver. He also had a son name Lyons from a previous relationship. His wife was rose and they had a son name Cory. The story started off when he was hanging out with his friend Bono, his friend told him to stop messing with Alberta and to stay faithful to Rose. In fences Cory just wanted is father to acknowledge him for getting a scholarship to go to college but his father did not seem to care. In Oedipus, Oedipus never knew who is real father was until he died which was sad. There also a lot difference in both stories, one would be when the stories took place. In fences the stories took place in a time were segregation going between and white. In Oedipus the king, the story took place in Greek time. Another difference in both stories is the story itself.
