When it comes to the medical field, there are endless possibilities of what one can become. The length of time it can take you to earn your degree can be as little as a year, or at most, fourteen years. Two of the most important roles played in the medical field are nurses and doctors. A nurse and a doctor work hand-in-hand with one another. They both require an intelligent person to hold the job title and make smart decisions based on the condition of the patient or issue that occurs at the hospital. Achieving such greatness as becoming one of the two, may seem just as simple as achieving the other, however, there are huge differences considering their duties. While doctors and nurses seem to obtain close to the same jobs, considering they are both attempting to give the patient the best care possible; they have different standards to live up to. One of the many differences is a nurse’s lack of a lot of authority and a doctor’s amount of power. A similarity is what they both have to deal with. Both doctors and nurses have to care for patients and deal with families to inform them of their loved ones. Another difference is their schooling. Nurses have four years of school compared to a doctor’s fourteen years. Another similarity is they both treat the patient and have their best interests at heart. While both jobs have near the same requirements, they have extreme differences when it comes to their power. Both occupations can be tremendously challenging and rewarding. The feeling of saving another person’s life can be very refreshing.
