The movie “Silver Lining” focuses on a man name Patrick, who recently been released from mental hospital in Baltimore. Patrick (Pat) and his family are obsessed with the Eagle, especially the father. The father is a huge Eagles fan and have a type of OCD that things have to be a certain way for the Eagles to win. Patrick supports his father when it comes to the Eagles games. At the turning point of the movie, Patrick Sr. (the father) blames Pat’s friend Tiffany for Pat being distracting and jinxing the games that the Eagles would lose. Patrick Sr. loves the Eagles and puts in a lot of time knowing everything about the Eagles. Patrick Sr.’s attitude changes based on how the Eagles do, Pat and his mother have an understanding for his reasoning. passion for the Eagles is this whole life. When the Eagles plan he has a tradition and it becomes apparent that he has OCD. On game day, members of his family need to wear Eagles’s jersey, remotes have to be in a certain way, and everyone gathers around the tv to watch. The audience learns that Patrick Sr. is no longer allowed in the Eagles stadium due to fighting. He was banned for life. Once his son was released from Baltimore, and he does his best to get his son to watch the game with him. After awhile with Pat is always out with Tiffany, Patrick Sr. sits down with his son. He explains that he is sorry that he did not spend more time with Pat when he was younger and blames himself that Pat ended up in Baltimore. Patrick Sr. is being empathic and is using the foot-in-the-door technique. By Patrick Sr. opening up to his son and turns it into football, and ask for Pat to attend an Eagles to reverse the jinx. Patrick Sr. reason behind this is to get his team to win. Also, this shows attribution theory because Pat understands his father needs to reconnect and football is a way to bonding
