The town of Siler City is a typical small country town that has seen better days; old chicken processing and textile plants that once buzzed with activity now sit closed and abandoned. There are a few general stores that have operated continuously. But the evidence of economic decline is seen everywhere. The decline is relatively new. Before the year 2000 many of the factories were still in business and, they, brought prosperity to the town. Afterward many of the companies started to fall on hard times and moved their headquarters overseas to save money. This threw the quaint little town out of work.
