Story's of Generations
Has the thought crossed your mind as to why these distinctions between generations are used? Maybe they feel that labels are meant to be used to describe what type of people we are? Could it be from the actions of that group? Similar to what nicknames that are give out by upperclassmen to freshman or cliches that constantly gather like penguins in the Arctic. There are currently four types of generation names still being used to describe parts of Americas History. At the beginning on this generation was fine and dandy until the Great Depression hits shortly after, the dust bowl begins. These factors gravely affected how they would be characterized in the future, this generation was hard working, kept to themselves, believed in achieving great things, loved the feeling of power, and enjoyed the occasional status update. Towards the tail end of this generation World War II began, initiated because of Hitler's incessant need to promote hate in the world by killing people for no political gain but, to kill those who didn't believe in what he believed in. Unfortunately this would be the most destructive war not only for sites the encounters took place in but, for the millions of people who died over a six year span. Following this war things began to look up for all parts of this generation, major achievements began to happen. Important factors of this generation are the opening of the famous Empire State Building, the first release of the first v-8 motor by Ford, Amelia Earhart defined the odds becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, …show more content…
Many believe the reason for the sharp rise in childbirth was because so many people died in the war. Also it could be that many of the individuals who fought in the war felt that the next decade would be a great period of time to start a family. Baby boomers can be described as people who fought for the betterment of people, look forward to things in the future, like to try new things, etc. The most particular thing that they fought for besides the Vietnam war was the civil rights movement. Led by Martin Luther King Jr. whom was tired of dealing with Jim Crowe Laws which created a great deal of segregation. During the time of the civil rights movement, the Vietnam war was taking place. Also heavily protested by many because of circumstances, over 58,200 died not nearly as much as were wounded.
