In the 1930s the brothers had paid off a man named Willie Bioff to keep theatres open. Over time the goverment would convict him of racketeering. Bioff would rat out one of the Schenk brothers who would spend four months five days in a federal prison. In 1945 he would be pardoned by President Truman. The schenk brothers tried to hold onto their econimic climate where others mocked them for their methods. As new audiences arose new competition from telivesion battled them. As the times changed and as the brothers failed to they would soon fall from grace. Even with their attempts to stay afloat signing deals with other companies and finace them the brothers could not stay afloat. The brothers would die alone and bitter but still within sight of the industry they helped
