Laskowsky talked about Sepulchres. They are buildings or caves that are used to store rotting corpses. Those are nice on the outside, but are horrible on the inside, which has become a symbol of hypocrisy. All of our lifestyles are part of the suffering of people around the world, even if we don’t want to notice or understand that. It was discussed at the end of the paragraph that death comes from nowhere but our own “Heart of Darkness”. Kurtz didn’t notice the darkness until he did not go to the darkest place on earth, realizing that the darkness is internal and that he was the darkness. Heart of Darkness changed my understanding of the holocaust by showing the past in a different way. I began to realize that it was as easy for Hitler to gain power and people to follow him like it was simple for Kurtz. This book was published before the Holocaust and it provided nothing to the holocaust.
