Signs Of Relationship Abuse

Decent Essays
The most helpful thing I learned so far in health class is to keep good relationships and point out signs abuse so that I am aware of the situation. In the past I had friends that would use me to do things for them and bad things to others, now I know how to point signs of relationship abuse out and prevent this type of abuse from happening again. I will be able to use this information in the future by pointing out when I see signs of unhealthy behavior from people around me, and confront the person so that I don’t have to be in a situation similar to the one I was in a couple years ago.

After reading "violence in intimate relationships: a feminist perspective" there are some harsh realities that some women do not want to face when they are or may be in a abusive relationship. Women face being labeled as a "battered woman" someone who has lost their morals or values to even stay with a male who is abusive towards them. I believe it is hard for women to leave a abusive relationship because they are scared especially if the abuse has been going on for years. I've seen a lot of movies based on women being abused by their significant other and from those movies i got that the woman has to at some point build this determination to leave that abusive relationship. Furthermore the woman has to feel like she has someone to turn to…

I have learnt that diseases do not attack people based on status or good looks. I have learned that people should be treated with love, understanding, compassion, dignity, and privacy. I have learned that on one would like to have a disease but when it does happen we all need someone, we need a strong base of support. In the same token, the elderly need that same love from whomever is caring for them. I have learned to ask questions, ask clients which they prefer, allow them to make decisions, and allow them to be in control of certain aspects of their care.…

Many people are expected to wait patiently for their food and/or drink when it comes to restaurants or fast food. However, what happens when a person decides to not wait patiently for their food and/or drink and decide to rush the person in charge of making/giving him/her their food. On Tuesday, January 3rd I decided to break this norm at Sheetz located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. When I arrived at Sheetz, there were several people that were in line for made-to-order food and drinks. I decided to order a peanut butter hot chocolate, which does not take long to make, however, there was several people before me.…

Introduction The definition of intimate partner violence, which is commonly referred to as domestic violence, can be psychological aggression, physical violence, forced acts, or sexual by an intimate partner from the present or the past (Wilson, Graham, & Taft, 2014). This type of aggression was seemingly a common practice among many households across the nation and was viewed as a tool that men utilized often in an attempt to correct their partners. On many occasions, officials would just tell men to calm down and tell the women who were being victimized to not provoke…

In my personal opinion, I agree with everything the article states. I have always been quite familiar with what to look for to unmask an abusive relationship. The women in my family have all either seen this happen or it has happen to them, therefore, in order to protect me from the harmful effects of abuse they educated me on the subject. Every sign that they warned me about, or told me to keep an eye out for was listed in the article: jealousy, control, constant checking in, and the more aggressive type of ‘play fighting’. However, there was one more sign they warned me about that was not in this article, the other sign is their attitude towards their partner.…
