Elderly mistreatment has several definitions, but the most used definition is the intentional harm or risk of harm by a caregiver or a person of trust. It is an issue that is rarely addressed and, with the increasing population of the elderly, the problem is predicted to grow. The types of abuse can range from physical , mental , sexual , financial, and neglect. It is estimated that only 16% of cases are reported and that more than two million older adults are suffering from abuse. The key to stopping abuse is to recognize the varying signs. Physical abuse victims often have bilateral bruises , black eyes , welts , lacerations, fractions , untreated injuries, and behavior changes. Emotional/ Psychological abuse often results in changes
