This would change after the alien attack on the house when Graham realizes that the issues each family member had were signs the whole time which ultimately saved them. During this time, Morgan has an asthma attack due to the high pressure of the situation and without his medicine he is close to death. This results in the audience witnessing Graham’s restoration in faith as he says “Don’t do this to me again,” in which he is clearly is talking to God, acknowledging that God does control what happens in life. Later on, Graham confronts an alien that he cut the fingers off of earlier in the film. Yet again, Morgan has an asthma attack but this saves him as the alien releases a lethal poison that does not affect him due to his lungs being closed. After this, Graham has a flashback in which he remembers one of Colleen’s last words. Colleen wanted Graham to tell Merrill to keep swinging, in which at this very moment would be useful as Graham tells Merrill to keep swinging as a way to attack the alien. This finally leads to the realization of the alien’s weakness, water. Bo throughout the course of the film left cups of water around the house that Merrill would use to finish off the alien.
The use of the alien plot accelerated the family’s healing process bringing them closer as they faced a life threatening situation together. This ultimately leads up to Graham’s realization that everything that has happened

This is reflected in his uncle Toby, when after he witnesses the lake draining, he becomes obsessed, essentially quitting work and tells his story over and over to anyone who will listen.…

The story Victory Lap by George Saunders is ambiguous and has many unexpected twists. Through the characters’ thoughts, it is revealed that who they appear to be isn’t always who they turn out to be. The story starts off slightly confusing, as it begins in the mind of Alison Pope. The first few paragraphs suggest that the story is about a young girl pretending to be a princess, until her thoughts change to her dance recital, then to her family, and many other things. It then becomes clear that Alison Pope is a young, teenage girl who has a lot of thoughts running through her head at any moment in the day.…
