People suffer from substance abuse such as; drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Most people mistakenly think that those who suffer from substance abuse do not have the willpower nor does that person want to stop using drugs. What those people don’t understand, drug abuse or some might call it drug addiction is a complex disease. (Signs and Symptoms of Substance Abuse, 2016). When a person is abusing drugs quitting it easier say, than done. Drugs can affect and change the brain and the body making the process harder to quit and harder for their body to recover from the substance abuse. The controlled substance of cocaine can caused effect such as; faster heartbeat, tremors and muscles twitches, constricted blood vessels, nausea, a higher risk of getting HIV, loss of sense of smell, problems with swallowing and paranoia. These prescription drugs are used for different reason; opioids is used to treat pain, benzodiazepines is used to treat anxiety and sleep disorder and amphetamine is used to treat deficit disorder and sleep disorder. When a person abuse opioids for such a long time it may lead to an overdose or life threatening situation. Opioids can be snorted or injected to increase the euphoric effects. (Symptoms and Signs of Drug Abuse , 2016). Benzodiazepines is used commonly for anesthesia which are prescribed to treat seizures, insomnia and anxiety. Benzodiazepines is a dangerous drug because of overdose. Mixing benzodiazepine with another drugs for example; alcohol beverage can slow down heart, breathing and can lead to a heart attack. Amphetamine can also be called stimulants can treat asthma and obesity. Amphetamine is usually giving to a patient by a doctor. When amphetamine is abuse by the patient it cause heart rhythms and high body temperatures. Some of the signs and symptoms that a person is abusing prescription drugs are depression, financial problems, involvement in criminal activity, aggression, loss of weight, always having bloodshot or glazed eyes, physical body bruises, infections, attitude or personality
