Significant Moment Essay

Every person has a significant moment in their life that comes along with a story. Especially in their teens when they can talk about their first kiss to when they got their first job. The thing is I didn’t do much in my teens because of my strict Hispanic household. My significant moment pertained to me learning how to finally drive! To be able to get on the road and experience the adult life. Even if that meant experiencing the very boring life of traffic. I was so happy to finally learn something that would benefit me in the long run, yet it’s embarrassing to say I just learned recently at the age of 20. Learning to drive was a skill necessary in my household, but not really enforced on me particularly. I was the middle child in my family and my parent’s first daughter. I didn’t do much but study while in high school while others went out, got jobs, or got their license before they graduated. At age 18 I wanted to learn to drive at any cost. They agreed, on the circumstances, that the worry of damage on their side would be gone and they felt it was a safer choice for me. I started my first day of driving class and I was very eager to learn. A month trotted by and I passed my written portion of the class. I started the driving portion of it all and the driving instructor was the nicest, funniest, and blunt adult I have ever met! He calmed me down and told me he has taught many my age and that they had the same issue. I felt like God was pulling out all the tricks when he made my first few days of driving filled with stormy weather. A fear of mine ever since my mom lost control during a rainy day on the freeway. Luckily, those harsh days went by and I improved in driving progressively. I didn’t give up and kept practicing to face my fears. My teacher was proud to say I did well and wished me luck in my future
