Then after a semester in public school then went to my honors and AP classes I felt more familiar with the teaching way. They got more into detail and were challenged again like I was in private school. Overall there is a big difference in our educational system depending on the place you go and who teaches there. Basing that off the teacher who had my senior year for AP English because she could have taught at a better school and would be very successful I enjoyed everything that she taught me and was able to apply a lot of her techniques till now. Then there were teachers in my private school that I wondered how the hell these people got this job and then I think Armenian… Connections.…

Many sociologists argue that “factors and processes within school are the main cause of difference” These factors include gender, class and ethnicity. All of these things can lead to certain stereotypes and labels being forced upon pupils. The idea that Teachers have certain expectations of different social and ethnic groups means that self-fulfilling prophecy can lead to pupils living out positive and negative labels. The role of gender in educational achievement is that in past times it has been that boys have achieved less than girls in school, this could be that boys have a history of ‘laddish’ behaviour and have had a negative attitude to learning. This had also led to teachers expectations of ‘lads’ to be low which has caused negative stereotypes and labels.…

I realized that going through the same experience while applying to colleges, going to a community college would be a better choice for me simply because I would not have to pay anything whereas in a University I would have to stress about ways to pay off my debt and loan. I believe that in a time where every student is faced with the pressure of going to college, the best way to go if going to a University is too expensive, there is always the best alternative where you don’t feel so pressured and stressed and can enjoy your education…

The time I found the courage to get outside of my comfort zone and to do something I’ve never thought I would do is when I decided to move to the United States of America. Just like everybody who lives a routine life, I never expected to come to the U.S to complete my studies and work toward building a unique career as a female Engineer. Everyone from my country, Egypt dreams of coming to the “City of opportunities,” New York. It was very hard to make such a decision. I had to move away from everything I knew: my family, my friends, and all the familiar places which house great childhood memories.…

The most beneficial portion of this course was for me how it was so detailed oriented to enable the student to exam the syllabus and find out she was so precise. What will benefit me enormously for this point in my life is the financial aid section. Educating a person to the different types and who they effected the student now and in the future. Just demonstrating these facts made you really think about the situation instead of jumping in first and finding out the ramifications later. I am so grateful at this time that I know the ins and outs of receiving the Pell Grant, it is so true the best defense is a great offense, Thanks to taking this course I am resolved to keep my GPA above reproach, to attend classes, not to withdrawal from classes or keep changing major…

Again, while we do all have memberships with the AOTA, I do not feel that I would have found and learned about these issues myself. In addition to some of my own laziness, I think that a huge factor that kept me from wanting to learn about these issues on my own would be that I did not really know where to start. Now, not only do I know where to start to continue my inquiry in this area, I have a foundation of this knowledge. This foundation includes, not only the areas that we talked about in class, but also has given rise to interesting follow up questions I am interested in inquiring about.…

Shoemaker, H. Stephen wrote an article entitles, “ Cults and Religions Have Important Differences.” In this article, he attempted to iterate key dissimiliarities between widely established religions, and the smaller manifestations of religious belief, to which we designate the term cults. He often insinuates that Christianity is a model religion that has never exhibited any cult like traits, and that the lines between these followings could be easily defined by terms as simple as the leadership, human treatment, and patterns of logic. The case can be made, however, that no religion is entirely innocent, and that Christianity, though it is assumed the perfect model, can be referenced as being lead by a man put in the position as essentially the voice of god, has a widely acknowledged history of abusive behavior, and that the followers of this theological…
