Another significant achievement of Trudeau’s government was the patriation of Canada’s written constitution, in 1982. This meant that the Parliament of Canada and the provincial government could now amend their own constitution through a new all-Canadian amending formula. The patriation of Canada’s written constitution also meant that the British Parliament could no longer exercise any jurisdiction over the amendment of Canada’s written constitution.
