Why is McCarthyism still studied today? McCarthyism is still studied in schools today, because of its significance. McCarthyism was a very big deal during the 1940s and 50s, after the election of senate McCarthy in 1946. It was a period in which a large group of people were being punished. The term McCarthyism in general, today, refers to the making of accusations without proper evidence.

However, the events described in the article such as the rise of McCarthy, the Red Scare and the Hiss case are all taught in schools today. These events left a big mark in American history. It shows how much the mindset of Americans have changed and why some things are like how they are today. Without knowing these things about our history, many questions
