Sigmund made a decision that he did not know would impact his life greatly when he decided to travel to Paris in October 1885 where he studied with Jean-Martin Charcot, a neurologist. On this trip he realized that neurology was not what he wanted to do and that he was made to do bigger things. The Nazis confiscated his passport so Freud with his wife and daughters had to flee to London with the help of his followers was it only possible. While this transition was very hard to make it harder the Nazi’s burned just about all of Freud’s recorded work in books he had. But their lives continued with Freud and his family stayed in London until his death. He died from cancer of the jaw because he loved cigars his whole life. He went through about thirty- three surgeries to try to remove the cancer. He also used cocaine a lot because he believed his was good for mental and physical problems. Being such a big consumer of cocaine made him suffer from depression, migraine and nasal inflammation. After given doses of morphine, he died in London which ended his pain and suffering. Just three days after his death, his body was cremated and his funeral was attended by many of his followers and psychoanalysts
