Throughout the story, beowulf earns a place as a respectful leader; however if his leadership is to endure, him and others will must learn from those who have lead before. No great warrior is without their flaws. Long ago was foretold of a brave and noble warrior named Siegmund. His might had earned him a throne, but alas, “Ruled only with courage. A king born, entrusted with ancient treasures and cities full of stronghearted soldiers, his vanity swelled him so vile and rank that he could hear no voices but his own” (909-912).
