The management roles in a sports department includes budgeting and organizing events. It's important because the SID is supposed to know everything about the organization and if a question arises about the budget or an event, then they should be knowledgeable in order to answer the question. However, SIDs have so many roles they shouldn't take a more significant role in management. An SID should solely focus on the communication aspect of the organization. Which includes the liaison, writing news release and media guides, and recording statistics. SID is the backbone of the organization, and is whom the media contacts for an interview, informs an athlete on how to answer interview questions, and etc.
