It has been said that hockey is Canada’s sport, and that many legends of the rink had their early beginnings in Canadian towns. One of the finest examples today is Sidney Crosby. He is one of best known iconic Canadian figures in modern day. He has accomplished a lot at a very young age, proving that he is hard working, and a great example to young individuals. His dedication to his sport makes him one of the best Canadian hockey players to date. Outside the game and all the fame, he is one of the most down to earth people, shown through his contribution to charities and partnerships. After his success throughout high school, the Pittsburgh Penguins selected Crosby first overall in the 2005 NHL draft. Two years later, the club made the 20-year-old the youngest team captain in NHL history. In 2009, he led the Penguins to their third Stanley Cup title. Being so relatively young in NHL standards when he earned such a significant title only goes to show how hard working Sidney is and how it helps him strive to reach his goals, which is a factor that greatly influences his fans and makes him the icon that he is.

His hard work plays a big part to his success in his career, but also his dedication towards the sport sets him apart from other athletes. When an individual dedicates themselves to something, it means putting in all of their effort and time into that task. He makes sure that his time and effort is put into all his practices and planning. This in return, has shown through his winnings like his 12 time winning streak from 2010 - 2012.
