That one moment Nat had with Rake has lead to much more than just the “book store”. It is done at one's choosing where and who they want to choose to share it with. For the first person to be Rake to tell that Nat was gay says something. Rake is the one person in the town that most people would guess he doesn’t support homosexual’s. Nat saw him different and chose him to be the first person to tell that he was gay and it payed off. Rake supported him and gave him kind and encouraging words. Given that Nat choose Rake to be the first to know that he was gay shows how much Nat respects Rake and how much Nat is affected by
