MDMA is taken in pill form, capsule, powder form, or in a gelcap. Ecstasy is MDMA in pill form. Molly is the name of the drug when taken in powder form and is often called “pure ecstasy”, but it is not always so. Since Molly is in a loose powder form, many other unknown chemicals and ingredients may be added to increase the strength of the drug, to increase the stimulants, to decrease the “down time”, or to even harm the person who uses …show more content…
It usually is taken orally, but it can also be snorted, injected, or smoked. Short term use of this drug, can induce after effects such as sadness, depression, confusion, paranoia, insomnia, and anxiety. The long term effects damage the brain by affecting the region of the brain that involves in education, thought, and memory.
The purpose of ecstasy is to induce a hallucinogenic trance that can make the brain unaware of its surroundings or change its perception of its surroundings. It often used to stay at the dance floor longer since it hallucinates your brain into thinking that your body can keep on going almost forever without tiring. This is not true. Ecstasy increases the user’s heart rate, muscle tightness, increased blood pressure, and excessive sweating. Without knowing what your body is actually doing, the person taking the drug can be a victim of severe dehydration. This often leads to death.
Some users try to counteract dehydration when using this drug by drinking water often. This too, however, is a flawed idea. Users of this drug tend to have a need for ecstasy, as it interferes with the brain’s stimulants. The stimulants in the brain, serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline, and much more, affects a user’s decision making, judgement, and reactions. Since ecstasy interferes with serotonin, the user will be craving the “joy” or “feeling” that the drug induces on a user because it can give a user more serotonin or other stimulants, depending on how powerful the drug is, or what ingredients are in it. Continuous use of MDMA, do not deliver the same “high” effects, as if taken the first time. As the user gets more familiar with the drug, the user might end up switching to a more powerful form of the drug, or a completely different hallucinogen. Ecstasy and related products, are said to be created much more safely and is much safer to use. This is not true because the reports of the victims that are hospitalized, have been increasing. MDMA related incidents that have been reported have been skyrocketing, as more users use the drug, and as the mass production of it increases, the manufacturing of MDMA can contain many unknown substances that may be used as
