“She is going” those were the words of my mother five years ago. They became the beginning of my dream and the challenge of my life. As a 17 years old Nicaraguan girl, I departed to Norway to study in an international school. No parents, culture and language were to be present in my new home. I always dreamed about taking a plane and flying to a completely different country. Not only to visit, but to study. However, the fear of being alone and completely responsible of my decisions used to wake me up. My new academic environment and community were an impact. They made me question my cultural beliefs, identity, and most importantly, my goals to reach happiness.
While I was accomplishing my study abroad dream, I was simultaneously learning from other international students. I was having trips to Copenhagen and Madrid. Taking about atheism, and LGBT rights. I was doing things I never thought I would do. And, they made me realized that the fear of independence disappeared. I visited my parents in the summer, they were amazed of my change and somehow nostalgic of that teenager that left a year ago. In their eyes, I was a more mature person.

His emotional and rational independence served as a role model to others. Govinda, his best friend, became his follower. However, Siddhartha intrinsically inspired Govinda to find his own independent life. Similarly, Unknown teenagers would recognize my face and express their admiration. They would ask me how they could also travel the world. It was a great honor for me to advise them. However, my advice was simple. Love the feeling to learn as you study.
