Classification
The classification of the Siamese cat is a Domestic house cat.
Origin
The Siamese is originally from Thailand. Its appearance and behavior caused the cat to become a royal favorite. The earliest signs of a Siamese was in 1871 when they were brought to Britain. The first Siamese to enter into North America was brought in by the First Lady of the United States Mrs. Rutherford B. Hayes in 1878.
Because the popularity, the breed has been used to form many of the modern breeds we see today, including: the Ocicat, Himalayan, Burmese, Tonkinese, Korat, Snowshoe and myriad Oriental breeds.
Distinctive Characteristics
The Siamese have two very distinct characteristics about them. The first is their blue eyes, they either have deep blue eyes or a lighter shade of blue. Rarely if ever would a Siamese without some sort of blue eyes be seen. The second distinct characteristic that you would find with a Siamese is their coat. Siamese are normally light in colour with dark coloured fur around the nose, ears, tail and paws. …show more content…
They are a very intelligent breed they think, plan and act- always strategically. They do also have a very unpredictable mod, one second being very snuggly to not wanting anything to do with human kind. The Siamese were originally used to battle snakes, their quick responses helped them avoid bites, but they did not kill their prey and “show off” their kill like other cat breeds.
Appearance
When the Siamese is first born the kittens are pure white with a slight pink pigmentation, after some time as they grow gradually their colour on the ears, nose, tail and toes arrives.
The body once fully grown is long and lean, almost tubular shaped, the body’s places high on the legs. They have a narrow triangular head. The tail is long and whip like, and they have very distinct blue eyes. The average life expectancy of a Siamese is around 16- 20 years
